British Council teaching English certificate recognition

In a recent statement regarding recognition the British Council in London wrote:

"Currently we consider reputable ELT validating bodies to include UCLES, Trinity College, any UK University and the College of Teachers."

The following statement from the British Council teaching English Accreditation Unit refers to their acceptance of the College of Teachers Advanced Certificate in TESOL. EBC comments regarding points 2. and 3. shown in square brackets [].

The College of Teachers does validate courses which we recognise. However you will need to ensure the course that is validated by them also fulfils our other criteria, points 2 and 3:

2. contain at least six hours supervised teaching practice (i.e. teaching practice where a qualified assessor observes the trainee teacher teaching real students and gives feedback on his or her performance)
[The EBC course meets this requirement]

3. contain at least 100 hours of ELT/TESOL input.
[The EBC course meets this requirement]
